When to plant roses?

To obtain spectacular blooms, it is essential to choose the right time to plant roses. Bare root roses are ideally planted in the period from November to February.

This allows the roots to establish themselves before the summer heat. For potted roses, however, you can proceed almost all year round, with the exception of the hottest days in summer and the coldest days in winter.

What type of rose bushes is right for you?

Roses are sold in two main formats: vaso e bare root. Potted roses, which are more practical to plant, cost between 15 and 50 euros, while bare-root roses, which tend to grow faster, cost between 7 and 20 euros.

Choosing the right type will depend on your needs and budget.

How to plant roses correctly?

The roses in vaso require the purchase of a pot that is double the size of the plant’s mound. Place a layer of draining material such as expanded clay on the bottom, and cover with soil, compost and a little fertilizer.

Water thoroughly and let your rose bush begin to establish itself.

With roses a bare rootthe process is a little more complex. Start by cutting off the damaged roots and soaking them in a pralinea mixture of earth and compost.

This step nourishes the roots and helps prevent dehydration. Proceed to plant your rose in a 40cm deep hole, without covering the collar.

Practical advice for rose care

Roses love the soleso make sure they receive at least six hours of light a day. Watering is also important: at first, water abundantly, then gradually reduce the amount of water.

Check yours regularly plant for any diseases or pests and act promptly if you notice anything suspicious. With proper care, your roses will continue to bloom season after season.
